BI nabs 3 Koreans in Cavite for working without permit, visa

Three Korean nationals allegedly working without proper permits and visas were recently arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in a private resort in Cavite.

MANILA, Philippines — Three Korean nationals allegedly working without proper permits and visas were recently arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in a private resort in Cavite.

BI intelligence division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said in a statement on Saturday that the agency arrested the three Koreans in a resort inside a subdivision in General Trias, Cavite on May 22.

They identified the Korean nationals as Oh Hyunsik, 51; Kim Haeyoung, 48; and Kim Seoyeong, 45.

The BI immediately sought coordination with the Philippine Navy and the Philippine National Police for the arrest after the bureau received information about the presence of an illegal alien in the area.

Intelligence operatives, during their monitoring, confirmed that the three Korean nationals have been working in the resort without the proper permits and visas, which violates the Philippine immigration laws.

The three Koreans will remain under BI’s custody inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings, the agency said. /jpv
