Marcos heads to Japan for World Expo, business meetings

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. left for Osaka, Japan, on Thursday afternoon to attend the World Expo 2025, a Palace official said.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos left around 1 p.m.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III, and Education Secretary Sonny Angara will serve as the country’s caretakers in his absence, said Castro.

Aside from attending the expo, Marcos will also hold business meetings and meet with the Filipino community in Japan.
Castro said Marcos will likely be back in the country over the weekend.
Last April 29, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba invited Marcos to attend the World Expo, which opened in April and runs until October. /dl
